Elementary
Cycle of Fundamental Learning (Cycle 2) and Cycle of Consolidation (Cycle 3).
At AJ - IS, elementary school welcomes students aged 6 to 11.
The curriculum comprises 5 levels:
- Cycle 2: Grade 1 – Grade 2 – Grade 3
- Cycle 3: Grade 4 – Grade 5
The acquisition of fundamental skills - reading, writing, counting, respecting others - is the priority of this cycle.
This cycle has a dual responsibility: to consolidate the acquisition of fundamental knowledge (reading, writing, arithmetic, respecting others) that began in Cycle 2 and which determines subsequent learning; and to facilitate the transition between elementary school and collège by ensuring continuity and progression between the three years of the cycle.
In elementary school, Al Jabr International School offers education in line with French conforme aux programmes de l’Education nationale française. Cet enseignement se fait en mode bilingue The teaching is bilingual, with 50% of the curriculum in French and 50% in English.
From Cycle 2 onwards, math and history-geography are taught in French, while science, art, music and PE are taught in English, in line with the French Ministry of Education's curricula.
Our pedagogical approach therefore encourages the simultaneous learning of both languages, in key areas such as language, listening, and writing. For English, this approach offers a rich variety of lexical fields, distinct from traditional teaching, guiding the child towards bilingualism in both French and English.
For Arabic-speaking students, the continuation of Arabic language instruction will be provided for 5 hours per week, following the programs implemented by the Center for Arabic Studies in Rabat.
By the end of elementary school, all students will have reached a very satisfactory level of English. For those who have been part of the program since Preschool (PS), this level will tend toward A2 (according to the CEFR), enabling them to use the language as a tool for learning and communication.
Cambridge Certification Pathway
Al Jabr International School prepares its students for Cambridge certifications from Cycle 2, ensuring their linguistic development is supported and their progress validated throughout their academic journey.
Cambridge offers a range of certification levels that are recognized worldwide and are considered a mark of excellence. Each level assesses various competencies, including listening and reading comprehension, speaking and writing expression, and interactive communication.
The Cambridge certifications offered are aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
By continuously validating their English proficiency levels throughout their schooling, AIS enables students to monitor their progress and tailor their learning to meet their individual needs.
